Maybe that sounds rather bold, but the truth is that nobody knows how to sell my home like I do because nobody knows my home like I do. I happen to own a lot of homes, and sometimes I rent them out to tenants and sometimes I sell them to new homeowners.

In fact, sometimes I rent out a house for a while and then sell it to the tenants and they become homeowners themselves. So, what's the benefit to knowing my home better than anybody else? Well, it's the biggest benefit of all, really. There was a time when I was the buyer, that's what I have to remember. Now I'm the seller and I'm considering how to sell my home to another buyer. So, all I have to do is remember what attracted me to the home in the first place and use that information to attract my new buyer.

I have to put myself in the shoes of a person seeing my home for the first time and make sure it looks good, that's one thing, but also make sure I share my enthusiasm for the home, the same enthusiasm I had for it in the beginning. Usually I accomplish this by making a list of features and why they are special, why they make life in this particular home so pleasant.

I may or may not have lived in the home myself, but I have spent plenty of time preparing it and talking with tenants living in it, so the home is very familiar to me. I make a point to notice special features like drawer dividers in the kitchen cabinets and built-in drying racks in the laundry room. Little things make a big difference when you promote a home for sale. You have to know them and remember to point them out when other people are considering your home as well, that's the secret to getting people to love the place, too.

There's a difference between selling and sharing, and you'll notice that I am talking about sharing in this article. Selling a house is not nearly as effective as sharing what you know about it and sharing your enthusiasm about it. Those things are naturally effective, while a sales pitch may fail. Buyers really don't want to be sold, they want to be shown. That's how they begin to fall in love with the house themselves.

Nobody can force that process, it happens naturally or it doesn't. I may have to shown my home to many potential buyers, but eventually people will see it who see it the way I do and who begin to fall it love with it, too. So, that's why I know best how to sell my home - I don't actually sell, I share. You might give this I try, too.
